Handmade Soaps and Bath Products
Someone once said 'Soap is to the body what laughter is to the soul', and we aim to give your body something to smile about, with a selecttion of soaps and bath products from a number of different makers.
Bath Bubble and Beyond
A range of luxurious soaps, made with natural products and essential oils, some made to look like a mouthwatering slice of gateau! We normally have a regular range of 6 slab soaps, with additional fragrances to suit the season. Add a little zest to your bathtime with our selection packs of Bath Marbles.
A further great range of handmade soaps and bath products, including some really great Bath Blasters, which have established themselves as real favourites with our regular customers. Again, these products are made from natural ingredients, designed to nourish the skin.
Scaur Glen Soaps
Introducing a lovely range of rather special soaps, handmade for us near the village of Thornhill, right in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway!
These soaps are extremely gentle on the skin, being made from natural ingredients, including essential oils to give some really delightful fragrances. Try the unique '7Stanes' sandlalwood soap, or howabout a 'Galloway Beltie'! Slightly more expensive than some of our other soaps, but many of our regulars believe it is well worth paying that little bit extra.
Rose & Co Toiletries
There's nothing like a relaxing soak in the bath to ease away the cares of the day, and our range of 'Patisserie de Bain' bath fancies will add that little touch of luxury to your tub, filling the room with delightful perfume, and making your skin feel silky smooth. Designed like miniature cupcakes, these novelty items come in a range of fragrances, such as Lavender & Lemongrass, Rose & Patchouli and Honeysuckle.
We are also privileged to be stocking a number of Rose & Co's traditionally made salves to pamper, sooth and heal your skin, normally only available in their own store and Harrods of London.
When we started up in business we were the only stockist for Rose & Co products in Scotland, outside of Glasgow and Edinburgh, though the popularity of these items is reflected in a growing number of shops where they are now available.
We are delighted to be stocking a range of lovely mirrors, photo frames, windchimes, ceramics and other handmade gift items imported from various developing countries by Welsh-based Something Different. Products include some stunning glass mosaic items from Bali, beautiful wooden sculptures, and ceramics. The unusual designs and value-for-money prices have proved a great hit with our regular customers, and we will continue to add further products over the passing months.
An added bonus to these lovely products is that both companies operate an ethical trading policy which ensures that the producers receive a fair price for their goods.
New for 2018!
Yorkshire based company, Namaste, pride themselves on supplying fairly traded products, sustainably produced by artisans in developing countries, often using recycled materials. We believe their unusual and colourful products will complement our existing ranges and prove popular with our customers.
"Namaste is still a relatively small business with a strong ethical policy at its core. We are not perfect but we believe our policies are consistent and transparent. We aim to buy from small scale producers who use largely natural materials and traditional techniques to produce beautiful and interesting articles. All Namaste products are fairly traded. We believe that the best way to reduce poverty is through trade."
Another ethically based company, supplying unusual items produced by small enterprises in developing countries.
Some great quality items supplied by North Yorkshire distributors, including candle sconces, animal sculptures and small furniture items.
Specialising in fantasy-inspired figures, their range of Wine Guzzlers (unusual sculpted bottle holders) as proved a big winner since we discovered them last Autumn.
We came across some stunning handcrafted metal bird and animal sculptures from this West Midland's based firm at this year's Harrogate Gift Fair, and just had to add them to our range of products. We are expecting our first delivery in time for the re-opening of our Burn Street shop. We think you'll be as stunned as we were!
Jewelery from Byzantium Collection
We used to carry a small selection of delightful costume jewelery, sourced through one of our wholesalers, which was always popular, but have been unable to find them again until very recently. We are delighted to have secured a delivery of a wide range of stunning necklaces, ear rings and bracelets (many made from real silver) in time for re-opening at Burn Street - great presents for the lady in your life at Christmas, birthday, or whenever you want to simply say 'I love you'!
We have been stocking a range of products from Joe Davies Giftware, but will be reducing our reliance on them as many items are now available from other local shops.
Cards from Phil McMenemy
We are delighted to be able to stock a lovely range of greetings cards from award-winning local photographer, Phil McMenemy (The Gallery at Laurieston). Phil's stunning work highlights the beauties of the Galloway countryside and is all the more remarkable when you consider he is actually colour blind!
Hand-painted Glassware from Busy Lizzie Art
In our efforts to reflect the work of local artists and crafts people, we are delighted to be stocking a range of stunning hand-painted pieces of glassware from the very talented Liz Craig from Crossmichael. All Liz's work is individually designed and executed, using a range of colours and images which we are sure will prove really popular with our customers.
We are happy to put together gift hampers drawing on any combination of our products, to meet you individual taste and budget.
A typical basket with a candle and selection of soap and bathbombs would be priced at just over £30.
